Jog On.....to the Office

I've realised it's a bit of an own goal deciding you want to work in fashion, because technically you should always be stylish, and there isn't really room for off days. It only adds to the pressure when you're internship is for a luxury shoe brand and all your shoes are, in comparison to theirs, cheap as chips. And whoever came up with the dress code "smart casual" is an absolute moron I'd like to have words with, because smart and casual are contradictory terms and an almost impossible equation. Therefore the night before I started at Rupert Sanderson my room was a bubbling cauldron of clothes and boxes and tags. I really didn't know where to start, and every time I tried on a skirt my mother told me it might not give a very good impression to show too much leg on the first day. Did anyone ever get anywhere in fashion by being a wallflower, huh?
But I did heed her advice and, let's be honest, I wouldn't say my fashion-sense is very out there anyway. I also stuck to my fool-proof mantra, because a little black does go with everything.

Here are a few outfits I've worn while the weather has just about held up. Please be forgiving - I've never posed for photos like this and the sun was unbelievably bright which is why I look thoroughly miserable, scowly and peeved in most of them. There's also an accidental sporty theme running through them - ironically I think I nailed the smart-casj code (how does one spell that shortening?) because I wore tailored jogging bottoms. Huzzah!
