Cat McNeil for Russh Magazine Dec/Jan

This editorial, for Australian magazine Russh, is simplicity at its absolute best. It lets the shapes do all the talking; not just the shapes of the beautiful thick drapery of the clothes but the shapes of Cat McNeil's body, who I'm so glad to see is back on the scene. It's as though she has sunken into the clothes and they've become an extension of her very lithe, long limbs.
The shoot epitomises the kind of minimalism fashion bloggers love to try and emulate, and that I could only dream of pulling off. When toned down from shoot to real life, I still think true minimalism only looks half-way decent on abnormally beautiful, rakish girls. It's certainly not a style anyone in Leeds is pulling off, here it's more of a 'pile-it-on' mentality.
I'm also really enjoying magazines, and even some campaigns (a la Cara for Mulberry) embracing model's tattoos and piercings. They add more of an accessibility to the photos, and a kind of raw edge and detail you can't get from special effects.
